look out first grade

Emilia started school today. She was super excited to go to first grade. Usually she will ride the bus to and from school, but this morning I took her. I wanted to get a few "first day of school" pictures. Not too long after we were in her classroom, she asked me if I was going to leave. When I asked her if she wanted me to, she said "yes"! So, that was it...goodbye mommy, hello first grade. Her teacher seems fun and excited about the upcoming year.

Grandma Susie watched Avery and Lydia while I took Emilia to school. Then we all spent the morning running errands and getting Starbucks. Avery said, "Mommy, since Grandma is with us today, can we have a big girls day out?" Translated-"Mommy, can we get a frappuccino, too?" Love it!

Seeing Emilia get off the bus is so fun. Her friends, Sophie and Mireya, and a few other classmates are riding it with her. Her only complaint about the bus...it's really loud.

When Emilia got home, I asked her about her day. She was excited that first grade has two recesses. She liked the school lunch, but commented that their garlic bread was harder than mine but that she wished she could have had another piece. (I will pack her a lunch on the days that she doesn't like what is on the menu at school.) She got to drink two milks, one for lunch and one for snack time. Em must have worked up an appetite. For her afterschool snack she had a chocolate chip cookie and then asked for a turkey sandwich. Well, then her sisters had to have a sandwich, too!

Oh, how I love my little first grader!
