my now happy baby

I mentioned earlier that a lot had gone on in the two months since I had last posted. Here is what was going on...

Around the time Lydia turned 3 weeks, she was screaming out in pain for most of the day. We were pretty sure it was colic. Everything I read pointed to that fact. And so...we did everything we could to keep her comfortable so that she wouldn't scream and we prepared ourselves for the long road ahead of us. We got pretty used to the sound of her crying so loud. Sometimes we would have to just put in down and let her cry because she wouldn't even stop screaming when we would hold her. We figured out that a dark room with a fan going calmed her down the best...along with the cradle hold, walk, bounce, pat routine.
After about 4 weeks of seeing her in such pain, I finally called her pediatrician. Their recommendation was to try gripe water and probiotic drops for a week or so. No change. So, another call into her doctor. She recommended Lydia seeing a chiropractor, Dr. Scharenberg. We had heard about him but were not sure about sending a little one and a half month old baby to him.
Well...what a blessing he turned out to be. Just after Lydia's first treatment there was a noticeable difference in her. For almost 3 weeks she saw him four times a week. Free of charge even! He told us that he always has a 100% success rate. We are here to tell you that he is telling the truth...100%!
Now at almost 3 months old, we have a much happier baby. Even better, she isn't suffering in pain like she was before! Friends and family say that she has such a sparkle in her eyes and she looks much healthier. Lydia will just sit on our laps, hang out in her bouncer or swing, or simply just lay on the floor and be so content.
How grateful we are for Dr. Scharenberg. Little Lydi, there could never be a more beautiful you!

a new twist

Does anyone else's nativity set look like this?!

and the stockings were hung...

Crazy to think that just last Christmas we only had four stockings hung from our mantle, with no clue that in less than a year's time, we would have five!

christmas music

Keep my blog minimized and enjoy my Christmas playlist.

all i want for christmas is...

a new bottom tooth! Emmie lost her first tooth over the weekend. It had been loose for a week. Last weekend we were driving in the car and she asked Roger and I when she was going to lose her first tooth. We told her that she would probably be in Kindergarten before she lost one. We explained that when she did lose a tooth, she could put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy. The next day, I noticed that her bottom, right cuspid was wiggly! She was so excited. We called Daddy at work to tell him. He asked Emmie what she was going to do when it came out. She replied, "I am going to put it under my pillow for the tooth fairy." Then Roger asked what the tooth fairy was going to do. Emmie exclaimed, "I guess she will leave me a new tooth!"
And so a week went by, wiggly tooth and all. We were at Grandma and Grandad's house yesterday when she wiggled it enough for it to come out. She made a funny face at first and then it just lit up! She kept saying, "I can't believe I lost my first tooth!" She decided not to put it under her pillow last night. She wanted to take it to school and show her friends and teachers. She might put in under her pillow tonight, but wants to leave a note for the tooth fairy asking her not to take it. Emmie has a special little box to put her first tooth in.
Did I mention her bottom, left cuspid is a little loose now?! She got those two teeth at the end of her 3rd month...October 2005. That might explain why they are falling out when she is almost 4 1/2!
